Update: Allergen Immunotherapy During the COVID-19 Outbreak

Like many, we are carefully evaluating any activity that might increase the risk of exposure to the COVID-19 virus for our patients. Under these extraordinary but hopefully temporary circumstances our office is making the following modifications to the allergy immunotherapy administration schedule for the months of March and April. These temporary changes will have minimal impact on your immunotherapy progress but will significantly reduce the risk of transmission of the virus through social contact.

  • If you are receiving maintenance allergy injections every 2-4 weeks, no change in schedule is needed.
  • If you are on a build-up schedule and receiving injections at least weekly, come in for your injection(s) every 2-4 weeks.
  • No downward dose adjustment will be needed as long as you come in at least once every four weeks.
  • All patients coming in for an allergy injection will be asked about recent travel, potential exposure to the COVID-19 virus, and recent respiratory symptoms and will have their temperature checked.

Please do not come to the office if you have a fever or suspect that you have been exposed; call our office first.
