When managed properly, your asthma does not control you. You control your asthma!
When asthma is a part of your life, it can be inconvenient at best and scary at worst. Many of us understand that those with asthma typically use inhalers in conjunction with the severity of their asthma. What most do not understand is what is actually happening during an asthma attack.
Asthma is a chronic inflammatory condition of the airways that results in the airways becoming hypersensitive to a variety of triggers (allergies). Exposure of the hypersensitive airways to nonspecific and specific (allergic) triggers can set off bronchospasm (a narrowing of the airways caused by tightening of the muscles around the airways).
Some of the symptoms of bronchospasm include wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and cough, and can range form mild to very serve, even resulting in death. Experiencing these symptoms without knowing the cause can be scary for an adult. The concern is magnified when a child is displaying these symptoms.
Our staff utilizes diagnostic testing of all sophistication levels to determine the type of asthma you have along with its severity and level of control. We work to bring definition to the allergic triggers that can cause attacks and prescribe treatment that addresses your specific symptoms. Over time we monitor the effectiveness of your treatment to prevent under or over use of any medications.
Proper management leads to less need for medication, improved quality of life and freedom from a disease. When you experience treatment to accurately and adequately treat your asthma it you will discover a newfound freedom to work, attend school, exercise, participate in sports and hobbies and enjoy life with their family.
